After Jessie Mueller won the Tony for Leading Actress in a Musical, I knew that I had to see what she was about. I bought a single standing-room ticket for a Saturday matinee of the show and not really knowing much about it, I was excited to be introduced. It was child-appropriate (not that children are really going to want to see and learn about Carole King's life) but the content was clean and I think there were maybe a few swear words, no F bombs. Clean show, a lot of fun, great music!
It was a just about a month ago
I went to New York with friends to see
shows
Saturday morning I stood in the long
line
for rush seats for Beautiful, for the
matinee time
10 o'clock came and I got to the front
there was only one left, I had a
decision to confront
should I ditch my friends and go alone
or miss the show and stay in the
good-friend zone?
The choice wasn't hard, I get to see
them all the time!
It was Beautiful the musical, this was
once in a lifetime!
I stood in the back, where my
assignment was
and got ready to be amazed, to feel
that Broadway buzz
the lights went down and Carole King
came on
sitting at the piano and singing a
lovely song
from that moment on, through
intermission to the end
I loved the show, it was worth every
penny I did spend
I walked out of the theater with a
stupid grin on my face
it was a joy and thrill that only a
good Broadway show could place
after the show, I went out to meet Ms. Mueller
we took a picture, spoke briefly, she
couldn't have been cooler
Oh Jessie Mueller, she was fantastic
it was a pleasure to see her, I know I'm enthusiastic!
and Jessie, Anika, Jarrod, Jeb and Jake
holy cow, what a cast, give me a break!
If you want a good clean show, and to have a lot of fun
don't just walk to "Beautiful", you better run!
